James Baghai

James Baghai joined Rockport Mortgage Corporation in September of 2016 and currently serves as Vice President. In this capacity he is responsible for all phases of business development and loan sourcing efforts. James has extensive experience in all facets of multifamily lending, specifically those focused on the acquisition, refinance, substantial rehabilitation and new construction of market-rate and affordable rental housing communities.

Since joining Rockport Mortgage, James has spent time as an Underwriting Analyst, completing the FHA Multifamily Underwriting Training Program in 2019, Assistant Vice President and now serves as a Vice President with a focus on loan origination. These multi-layered experiences within commercial real estate finance provides James a rock-solid base of understanding on structuring complex HUD-insured loan transactions. James has been involved in over 50 HUD-insured loan transactions totaling approximately $2 Billion in loan volume and covering over 9,000 units.

Prior to his time at Rockport Mortgage, James earned his B.A in Economics from Saint Michaels College. He began his career as a Fixed Income Trader and Portfolio Manager at The Bank of New York Mellon. While at The Bank of New York Mellon he focused on trading Taxable, Tax-Exempt, and MBS debt securities for over 300 Fixed Income portfolios totaling over $950 Million in total market value. James currently resides in Charlestown, MA.
